Another Great Lesson

Okay, so I've just got to post about our great home teaching lesson again! We started with a prayer, and then sang For the Beauty of the Earth. These are the words:

For the beauty of the earth,
For the Beauty of the skies,
For the love which from our birth
over and around us lies
Lord of all, to Thee we raise
this our hymn of grateful praise.

For the beauty of each hour
of the day and of the night,
Hill and vale, and tree and flow'r,
Sun and moon, and stars of light,
Lord of all, to Thee we raise
this our hymn of grateful praise.

For the joy of human love,
Brother, sister, parent, child,
Friends on earth, and friends above,
For all gentle thoughts and mild,
Lord of all, to Thee we raise
this our hymn of grateful praise.

That was a lot to write out but I just had to in case you didn't have a hymn book handy. What a wonderful song that is! We are just singing praises for all of the amazing things God has blessed us with. And why does he bless us? 2 Nephi 2:25 (my favorite scripture!) "...Men are that they might have JOY!" I love this scripture so much because it tells us that the Lord didn't put us down here on earth to suffer, and whoever can take the most hardship wins exaltation. No! We are here to have joy! We are here to live the gospel to its fullest and realize the blessings and eternal happiness that living the gospel brings us.
The last part of the lesson we were to write down 3 things that would make us happier. My 3 things were 1) Have a cleaner house 2) Have planned activities (so I'm not so bored all the time) and 3) Have more energy. My home teacher helped me focus on the Word of Wisdom because eating a healthier diet, exercising, and getting more sleep will give me the energy (#3) that I need to clean the house and plan fun activities. (#1 and #2) Isn't that such a wonderful lesson! And it's broken down so well into doable steps with a real goal instead of just wishful thinking.
I'm so grateful to this wonderful home teacher who is always encouraging, and better yet actually helping me to be better!

So what 3 things can you do to make yourself happier?

My dear Kelsey...it would make me happier if you had a cleaner house! : ) Here's my helpful hint. When I am SO not in the mood to clean, but the house is a disaster, I set the timer for 15 minutes. That's a doable amount of time to clean, and then I can be done. But it seems that once I get started I don't want to quit until the job is done. Give it a shot, it works for me. Thank you for your inspirational post. I wish I had more energy as well (don't forget you're making a baby! That takes a lot out of a woman) If I had it my way, I would sleep all day long. I sure love you kels. Good luck on your goals and stick with it!
