The Prophet Said to Plant a Garden
It turns out that having to weed the garden for a chore as a child does not make you a master gardener. At my request Spencer helped me plant a garden this year, and it is far from thriving. So far we've lost a couple of peppers, a tomato, quite a few melons, and no peas are coming up. (Along with so many others I won't bother listing them all.) But on the bright side, the corn is looking great and the broccoli and onions are starting to peak through. We'll have to see how bountiful the harvest is in a few months. I pray for it to be good. We put a lot of work into it so I just had to post the pictures.
Spencer cutting up the sod to make room.
Tilling in some good dirt.
And planting.
With Aliah's help of course.

Memorial Day Fun
The day was rather uneventful, but I wanted a good excuse to post these adorable pictures of Aliah. She's is getting so grown up and so tall. It's weird to see a toddler and not a baby anymore. And wow she has a lot of attitude! It drives me crazy most of the time, but she's extreme in both directions. So when she's sweet and cute it brings me to tears how lucky I am to have her!

The Most Amazing Woman in the World!
Okay I'm a week late but I just have to post about this amazing lady! Mom died eight years ago now, but I fell like she's alive and well in my memories. Originally I didn't have a lot of childhood memories, but as I experience motherhood and wonder what my mom would do I somehow suddenly recall fun stories. My favorite one of the week is walking into her room to ask her a question after she was in bed. If you walked in and just asked she ALWAYS had an answer. For example, "Mom who invented the pen?" Answer: "Mr. Bic." I'm pretty sure half the things she said were totally false! Anyway, if you walked in to ask her a question while she was trying to fall asleep so would try to stop you and turn you away. She'd say, "Don't ask me anything or I'll be up all night." (Thinking about it.) The reason I suddenly remembered this was because in the middle of the night I was still up (not up again, still up) thinking and thinking about what Spencer and I had been talking about as we (or I should say he) fell asleep. I was more tired then usual the next day. But I LOVED this new memory! I'm proud though to say I'M TURNING INTO MY MOTHER! She's just the right person to turn into if you ask me.

Happy Mother's Day!
I hope everyone had a great Mother's Day! I certainly did. Aliah colored this picture for me in nursery. It's the first thing she's ever made me and I think it's totally adorable. I know I can't keep every paper but this one I've got to store away!
Spencer made the day special for me too. He bought me See's Candy chocolates!!! They are the yummiest ever and were hand picked so I only got the kind I like. And we went shopping for a new camera! This is my old camera.
Do you see the button sticking out of the top? That's the power and shutter button. Needless to say it's beyond broken. I've been using a disposable one for a while, but it seems like it will be forever until the pictures get developed. I feel like I'm back in the Ice Age. How did we ever survive? Anyway THIS is my new camera!
It's purple!! I love it. It has way more mega pixels and is small enough to carry in my pocket. Plus the part I was really sure to get in this new camera is that it takes video with sound. My old one couldn't do that. So I expect to take a lot more little videos and blog a bunch more because Aliah will be so much easier to show off! I actually picked getting a new camera for Mother's Day. Spencer told me later he was going to get me a Cricut machine. (It's the best scrapbooking machine ever for those of you who don't know.) I was disappointed for about ten minutes and then was over it. This camera is going to be so much more useful with the new baby coming soon and Aliah growing up so fast. Thanks to Spence for working so hard so that we could afford it!
So Happy Mother's Day again to all of you. You are all such fantastic examples of what I can strive to be like as a mother. You all amaze me! Thank you so much!

Friends Forever
I just wanted to make a quick post about how excited I was tonight. Spencer has an Aunt Judy and some cousins that are here visiting and we were all hanging out tonight. Well it turns out she's not his Aunt at all. Judy is his mom's best friend from college. It just made me think about how close we all need to stay. And it made me really excited to visit each other even when we're all grown up and have our kids be friends!
(And a quick shout out to Tashina, Emily, Sarah S. and Melissa H. because I don't have a digital picture with you guys in it on this computer. So sorry! I love you guys just as much!)
